MISSION STATEMENT: To empower today’s urban youth to make informed financial, social, and professional decisions.

Dispelling Realities & Empowering African-American Minds, Inc. (D.R.E.A.M. Inc.) was originally conceived in 2006 by Orane Williams with the assistance of three other young individuals who wanted to help make a positive social change in the communities they resided in. D.R.E.A.M. Inc was born to fill a void that was lacking, according to Founder, Orane Williams. On April 14, 2008, Dispelling Realities & Empowering African-American Minds, Inc. became incorporated with the state of New Jersey as a Non-Profit organization.

D.R.E.A.M. Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides financial literacy workshops, college preparatory information, and post-college life information for urban youth, ages 13-25.

D.R.E.A.M. Inc breaks down how to save money, how to budget effectively, and how to

plan for future financial goals. These interactive seminars give young people the foundation needed to establish good spending and saving habits, and provides insight on how to make money work for you! D.R.E.A.M. covers topics such as Money Basics and Establishing Credit and introducing young people to the idea of creating a “good relationship” with money.

D.R.E.A.M. is dedicated to reaching as many young people as possible by traveling to different locations in and around the New Jersey/New York area. Financial literacy courses have been held at many locations including Newark Public Library, William Paterson University, and Essex County College. We have partnered with a number of organizations including Community Access Unlimited, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

D.R.E.A.M. was founded in 2006 by Orane Williams, a native of Union, NJ. He created this organization to encourage, inspire, and uplift urban youth.

D.R.E.A.M.’s goals is to prepare urban youth to be financially successful in an unstable economic society. Financial literacy and planning is not taken into consideration in schools and it is the most valuable tool to understand before transitioning into the real world. D.R.E.A.M. hopes young people will walk away with a firm grasp of money matters and the key steps to becoming financially independent.

We at D.R.E.A.M. Inc are here to serve our community in a positive way. We have several dynamic presentations for your youth organizations, churches, schools, universities, and camps. Please contact us to speak with a volunteer to find out how we can help change the lives of your youth.
